Lina Washington is an American journalist currently working as a sports reporter/anchor and multi-skilled journalist at 12News, contributing across all shows and platforms. Washington joined Team 12 in June 2021.
Prior to joining 12Sports, Washington worked as a sports anchor and reporter for TEGNA’s sister station ABC10, KXTV, in Sacramento for four years. At ABC10, she also hosted the weekly sports highlight show ‘Toyota Sports Extra’ and helped develop the weekly ‘Sports Standout’ franchise, which featured local prep talents. Lina’s other highlights include reporting on the 2019 NBA Finals and the San Francisco 49ers’ run to Super Bowl LIV in Miami. Lina, a two-time Emmy Award winner, received a Northern California Area Emmy Award nomination for her roundtable discussion on race relations in Sacramento.
She is a Phoenix native who graduated from Corona del Sol High School and Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications. She kicked her career at KGET, an NBC affiliate in Bakersfield, California. Lina covered everything from Kern County high school athletics to NFL Training Camps and the NCAA Elite 8 in Los Angeles while working as 17 News’ sports director.
