Jonathan McCall is an American journalist currently working as a weekend anchor and reporter for 12News, contributing across shows and platforms. He joined Team 12 in May 2022.
He used to work as an anchor and reporter for San Francisco’s KRON4. In addition, he has worked in Las Vegas, Tulsa, Baltimore, and Kansas City. The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has recognized Jonathan’s efforts with awards for Best News Anchor, Best Breaking News Report, and Best Newscast.
Ever the adventurer, Jonathan has leaped off the edge of the Stratosphere Hotel, gone on a ride with the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, and lost a shoe while watching a snowstorm on live television. He has hosted hours of live coverage of many breaking news stories, such as the January 6th uprising at the US Capitol Building and the San Jose VTA Railyard Mass Shooting.
Additionally, he gave CNN live talkbacks when Terence Crutcher was shot and killed by police. Jonathan served as a qualified meteorologist for the U.S. Navy during Operation Enduring Freedom before taking on the spotlight. Assisting pilots with mission planning so they can hit enemy targets in combat was his job.
He earned his B.A. in Communications from Lamar University and is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists.
