Tram Mai Biography
Tram Mai is an American journalist currently working as an anchor of 12News at Noon and First @4, which airs weekdays from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. She also anchors 12 @ 12, 12News’ multi-platform noon show, with 12 minutes of uninterrupted content. She also reports across all 12News shows and platforms.
Mai kicked off her career in 1995 as a production assistant at KABC based in Los Angeles. Her first reporting position came from the Gainesville bureau at WOFL in Orlando, Florida. She began working at CFN-13 at the Volusia County Bureau in Florida a year later. After that, she spent three years working as a reporter and weekend anchor in Columbus, Ohio, until joining KPNX in 2003. Tram has received Emmys for reporting and anchoring throughout her career. She has also earned accolades from the Ohio Society of Professional Journalism and the Casey Award, and she was most recently nominated for an Emmy for Best Anchor in 2019.
After completing her studies at UCLA, she minored in Asian American Studies and majored in communication studies.
Tram has covered some of the biggest stories of our day, from the hurricanes in Florida to the passing of Senator John McCain and the historic “Red for Ed” teacher protest in Arizona. Along with co-hosting the Emmys in Los Angeles and covering the Arizona Cardinals’ trip to the Super Bowl in Tampa, Florida, Tram has also conducted celebrity interviews and covered the red carpet events.
