Mark Curtis Biography
Mark Curtis is a well-known American journalist currently working as an anchor at 12News at 5,6, and 10 with Caribe Devine. He has been part of Team 12 for more than two decades. Mark is a decorated journalist and has won 13 Emmys, a Murrow, and two P awards for Best Anchor throughout his career.
In June 1980, Curtis made his first on-air appearance in the Valley. He traveled the country covering sports for 12News in those days. Mark worked for the station until 1987, when he and his expectant spouse, Abby, left for Minneapolis. At KSTP, the ABC affiliate, he was the Sports Director covering the Minnesota Twins’ run to the 1987 World Series. After three years in the Twin Cities, he moved to St. Louis, where he served as the main sportscaster and the play-by-play voice for St Louis University basketball.

Mark has always desired to go back to Phoenix with his family. They did so in 1995, and Mark came back to work at 12News, initially as a sports anchor before transferring to the news desk in 2004.
He has covered numerous high-profile stories during his tenure, including two World Series and five Olympic Games, including Sochi. Mark has also been actively involved in 12News’ political coverage, following inaugurations to presidential primaries. He visited the country’s capital in 2016 following the election of President Donald Trump. 2018 saw Curtis Field headline special coverage from Washington, D.C. for Senator John McCain’s burial.
Mark is most proud of his recent story, Becoming Rachel, which details the personal journey of a resident of the Valley who transforms from a guy to her actual self—a woman.
After attending the University of Georgia, Mark completed his studies at American University. There are Sun Devils all around him. Surprisingly, all three of his children and their wife, Abby, were students at ASU. Mark likes to garden and play golf in his own time.
