Cameron Cox Biography
Cameron Cox is an American Emmy Award-winning journalist currently working at 12News as an anchor. He also hosts Friday Night Fever and 12Sports Tonight, as well as a contributor to Cardinals Locker Room. He joined the station’s team in November 2014.
Cameron was a sports reporter and anchor at WOAI-TV in San Antonio, Texas, for two years before moving to the valley. While in San Antonio, he covered two NBA Finals, the Spurs’ championship parade, the NBA All-Star game, college football (Longhorns, Aggies, UTSA), Texans and Cowboys games, NFL playoffs, a Pro Football Hall of Fame ceremony, high school sports, MLB, and the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.
Cox kicked off his career as a weekend sports anchor at KNOE-TV in Monroe, Louisiana, covering Louisiana Tech, Grambling, LSU, and the Saints.
He attended Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, New Mexica, where he was a student-athlete playing football. He rapidly learned how to leverage his own on-the-field experiences to improve his journalism.
Cameron worked full-time as the lead sports anchor and play-by-play broadcaster for KENW and KSEL while pursuing a degree in broadcast journalism. He also presented Portales’ first sports discussion radio show, “Game On!” and served as the Portales Rams’ announcer.
Cameron is originally from Houston, Texas, and is a proud Atascocita High School alumni in Humble.
