Maria Bartiromo Biography
Maria Bartiromo is an American conservative journalist and author who has also worked as a financial reporter and news anchor. She joined the FOX Business Network as Global Markets Editor in January 2014.
She anchors Sunday Morning Futures (10 AM/ET) on FOX News Channel (FNC), which consistently rates as the highest-rated Sunday show in cable news, and Mornings with Maria (6-9 AM/ET), the top pre-market business news program in cable. Maria Bartiromo’s Wall Street, a weekly primetime investing program on FBN that airs on Fridays at 7 PM/ET, was likewise named after Bartiromo in April 2017.
Bartiromo has interviewed some of the most well-known figures in business and economic policy during her time at FBN. She previously made her television debut in an hour-long investigative documentary about the future of artificial intelligence (AI) and how it will affect business. During the documentary, she traveled the nation and had exclusive access to powerful businessmen who were using AI to break down barriers in several important industries, such as Steve Schwarzman of Blackstone and James Hackett, the CEO of Ford. Bartiromo has also spoken with several well-known entrepreneurs, such as Alex Rodriguez, a former professional shortstop for the New York Yankees. She recently conducted interviews with Valerie Jarrett, a former senior adviser to President Obama, and Harry Reid, a former Senate majority leader. She has also overseen the network’s coverage of important business gatherings, such as the annual JPMorgan Healthcare Conference and the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
Bartiromo and Neil Cavuto of FBN moderated the network’s first-ever Republican presidential primary debate in November 2015. The debate was the highest-rated show in network history, with 13.5 million viewers overall and 3.7 million in the important 25–54 demo, according to Nielsen data. Resuming their debate moderating duties in January 2016, Bartiromo and Cavuto brought in 11 million viewers overall, with 3 million of those coming from the important 25–54 demographic. This made the show the second highest-rated in network history, according to Nielsen Media Research.
Bartiromo was one of the founding members of the business television network CNBC and has over 25 years of experience covering business and economics. When it comes to financial news on television, Bartiromo was a pioneer. She made history in 1995 when she was the first reporter to cover every day live from the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. After working for CNN Business News for five years as a writer, producer, and assignment editor, where she created and scripted some of the network’s most popular business programs, she joined CNBC in 1993.
As one of the “50 Faces That Shaped the Decade,” the Financial Times recognized her in 2009, and she became the first female journalist to be inducted into the 2011 Cable Hall of Fame Class. She received recognition in 2016 as one of the Library of American Broadcasting’s Giants of Broadcasting & Electronic Arts.
