Gasia Mikaelian Bio
Gasia Mikaelian is an American journalist currently working as a news anchor at KTVU FOX 2 News, based in the San Francisco Bay Area. A native of the Bay Area, she joined the station’s team in March 2005 and currently anchors the popular morning program “Mornings on 2” from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., as well as the KTVU Fox 2 News at Noon. Gasia is known for her warm, genuine delivery and her deep connection to the local community where she was raised.
Gasia formerly worked as a reporter and anchor at KPRC in Houston, Texas. Her career journey also included stops at XETV in San Diego, WAFF in Huntsville, Alabama, and KSWT in Yuma, Arizona, where she took her first job for just $15,000 a year. She actually began her path in the industry as an intern right at KTVU in 1996 while still a college student.
During her extensive tenure at KTVU, Gasia has reported on everything from major North Bay wildfires to the Super Bowl. Some of her most impactful work occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic, where she produced a special series focusing on the pandemic’s significant effects on mental health. Gasia grew up in Livermore, California, and attended Las Positas Community College before transferring to San Diego State University, where she earned her degree in journalism. As a proud Armenian American, she frequently uses her platform to highlight Armenian culture and has served as an emcee for various community events, such as the Armenian Missionary Association of America (AMAA) banquet.
In her spare time, Gasia is a self-described “kitchen dynamo” who loves sharing Armenian recipes, such as shish kebabs and sarma, with her audience. She also enjoys hiking in the East Bay hills, thrifting for unique finds, and spending quality time with her family.
